The University at Buffalo is one of the outstanding educational institutions in the country. I was in Italy recently, visiting my alma mater, the University of Bari. My sister's on the faculty of the University of Bari and I met with the faculty there. I was proud to learn about the reputation the University at Buffalo has in Italy and in Europe. They knew about the outstanding UB programs in medicine, architecture, management, and computer science. They knew about all the research going on at UB. more


They Thought We Were Too Liberal

The first semester I went to St. Louis University, then I came back to Buffalo and went to the University at Buffalo School of Social Work. At that time the school was located downtown. It was called Townsend Hall. There were three floors. The third floor was condemned. Since the bathrooms were on the third floor, we went next door to the gas station or we went to the little restaurant called "Marie." more


Two Social Workers

I remember Cornelia Allen; Allen Hall is named after her. While she was never a professor of mine, I knew her because she was the director of Cradle Beach Camp years ago. She's a legend around UB.
I did a placement at Cradle Beach one year, and she was my faculty advisor. more

The School of Social Work Alumni Association brought people back in 1988 for a twenty-five year class reunion. I was in the class of 1963, and I think we invited the class of '62 and '64 to join us. The then dean, Fred Seidel, had graduated from one of those classes. more
