PhD Program & Admissions
Overview
Thank you for your interest in pursuing a PhD in Social Welfare at the University at Buffalo. In order to apply for our program, you must have an MSW from an accredited program.
Our program is:
- Interdisciplinary
- Research intensive
- Individualized
We have a great deal of faculty and research strength in
- alcohol and other drugs, child welfare, adolescent sexuality, trauma, criminal justice, health care, HIV/AIDS, school based interventions, aging, multiculturalism, organization and community practice evaluation, and developmental disabilities.
We provide the following resources to help students finance their study on a first come first served basis:
- Scholarships
- Tuition waivers
- Stipends.
We require the GREs and a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) as an undergraduate.
